1987 Toyota LandCruiser LJ70
Overview:
This LJ70 arrived at Well Sorted slated for a diesel engine conversion and fresh coat of paint. As we inspected the body it was clear there were serious problems with rust hiding underneath the most recent paint job. It became clear a new foundation would be the best approach and a second BJ70 was purchased to replace the original body. The BJ70 was blasted and it’s own rust sections repaired then painted with Toyota TRD Pro Cement Gray. The owner intends to use this truck to it’s full capability so offroad bumpers and a winch were added along with a full suspension rebuild and re-gearing of the axles. Under the hood the original Toyota diesel was removed and replaced with the modern and efficient Cummins R2.8 engine. Interior upgrades included custom bucket seats, adding air conditioning, CB and GMRS radios, and modifying all the stock gauges to work with the Cummins engine.

I met with Doug several times about my vision on the restoration of the LJ70 Toyota Land Cruiser that I had recently purchased. After listening to his expertise, insights and discussing what we thought needed to be done I decided on a total frame off restoration with the installation of a new Cummins diesel engine. Throughout the rebuild Doug kept me in the loop on the project with questions, updates on costs, and guidance on the way forward. In the end I have complete satisfaction of a wonderful engineered and beautiful LJ70 vehicle built by Doug and the crew of Well Sorted. I would strongly recommend them for any project, small or large. - Brian
